UK could get 30C temperatures ahead of Hurricane Erin

Many Brits are enjoying a sunny spell this weekend, with things only getting warmer at the start of next week, according to the Met Office.

Meteorologist Craig Snell said: “It’s looking fairly fair, it’s going to turn increasingly warm, the warmest day is going to be Monday.

“Each day, there will be more sunshine developing.”

Temperatures to soar to 30C this Monday ahead of Hurricane Erin

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a mix of cloud and sunshine as well as rain in some parts of the country, reaching maximum temperatures of 24C.

However, remnants of Hurricane Erin will mark an end to this good weather, bringing rain and winds.

The Met Office‘s Mr Snell said: “It does stay for most of next week to the north west of the UK, so really strong winds stay offshore, the main impacts for us is it will bring a return of some rain.

“From Tuesday onwards, some of the rain will be heavy, so we’ll keep an eye on that.

“Temperatures return back down to average, low 20s in the south.

“It will be a little bit blustery. There will be some more larger waves towards the western coasts.

“If you are planning to head towards the beach early next week, stay up to date with forecasts on our website… and keep up to date with the RNLI.”

Will the UK get a hurricane next week?

The Met Office has said that hurricane Erin is “likely to exert some influence over the UK’s weather through the middle of next week”.

The Hurricane is expected to move across the Atlantic towards the UK, where it will “go through its extratropical transition”.

The meteorological organisation said that, as a result, “it’s no longer going to be a hurricane” when it reaches the British Isles.

Explaining what this means, the Met Office said: “It means that we’re less likely to see the most unsettled weather that we could have had as a result of what is currently Erin and what would become ex Erin.”
