Don’t get me wrong, I love summer and its laid-back vibes, but fall is one of the most special times of the year. From the changing leaves to spiced lattes, vampy nail polish, and a new wardrobe (hello, platform Uggs!), it’s a season that brings the best kinds of changes.
Speaking of a new wardrobe, fall is also the time when sweaters start to re-emerge from your closet, boots become a suitable shoe for just about every outfit, and cozy textures and warm fabrics take priority. Plus, it’s the ideal climate to get a little more creative with your looks. I take my own advice very seriously, so I’ve been perusing the internet to find some new sweaters, boots, and pants to refresh my fall wardrobe. Since I can’t resist a chunky knit or a pair of statement boots, here’s everything I’m adding to cart for the changing season, from $15.

Free People Shelby Floral Jacquard Cotton Cardigan
Nordstrom
A chunky cardigan like this one from Free People makes any outfit instantly feel more fall-coded. I love the way it’s styled on the model with a button-down shirt; I’d pair that with jeans and knee-high boots.
Reformation Fern Satin Short
Reformation
Satin lacy shorts paired with a sweater and boots is one of the best ways to dress for a toasty, fall day. The combo is full of juxtapositions, but I live in Los Angeles so I know I can pull it off. I think a pair of shorts like this would totally become a staple in my wardrobe, too.
Quince Mongolian Cashmere Tee
Quince
Mindy Kaling recently gave this transitional wardrobe staple her seal of approval and I totally understand why. The short sleeves keep you from overheating, while the knit fabric elevates the basic t-shirt silhouette.
Aritzia Babaton Elm Jacket
Aritzia
Showing off your collarbone is one of the most underrated, elegant plays in my book. This modern blazer does that without being too low cut or revealing. I’d style it with a looser pair of jeans and a dainty ballet flat.
Damson Madder Mansi Check Organic Cotton Minidress
Nordstrom
Speaking of collarbones, this Damson Madder mini has an elegant U-neck with a smocked bodice and a fit-and-flare silhouette. The plaid fabric adds enough excitement, so all you need is a pair of tall boots and a pumpkin spice latte in tow to finish off the look.
Circus NY by Sam Edelman Yulia Pointy Toe Knee High Boots
Nordstrom
It just occurred to me that I don’t own a pair of pointy knee-high boots and after eyeing this pair, that has to change immediately. The red wine colorway would make so many outfits look instantly cooler. They have the vast wearability of black boots—with an unexpected twist.
Old Navy Mid-Rise Wow Baggy Wide-Leg Jeans
Old Navy
I own 25-plus pairs of jeans and my Old Navy ones are among my comfiest and most-worn. I love a wide leg and a mid-rise, so this pair is a no-brainer. At $26, I’ll buy one in my size and a few sizes up to have a baggier silhouette to wear with dainty knits.
