Comcast Launches StreamStore for Xfinity TV and Internet Customers

Comcast is doubling down on its bid to become the entertainment one-stop shop for customers in its cable footprint.

The company is launching Xfinity StreamStore, a hub for purchasing and managing streaming apps, channels and networks, available to Xfinity TV and Internet customers. Comcast touts StreamStore as having “one of the world’s largest catalogs of entertainment” — including over 450 streaming apps and channels and 200,000 movies and TV shows to rent or purchase.

A subset of the apps will be available to buy through StreamStore and those charges added to a Comcast customer’s monthly bill. Those are Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Starz, Discovery+ and MGM+, along with about 100 smaller niche services. (Notably absent is Amazon’s Prime Video, which is part of the Prime membership program.)

The StreamStore destination also will feature discounted streaming bundles like StreamSaver, a three-way package with Apple TV+, Netflix with ads and Peacock with ads for $15 per month.

Xfinity StreamStore is taking the complexity out of finding the content you love and putting the power back in the hands of our customers,” Jon Gieselman, chief growth officer for connectivity and platforms at Comcast, said in a statement. “It’s an important advancement in harnessing tech to make the complicated easy and entertainment smarter, simpler, and more connected.”

StreamStore will be available on xfinity.com to let customers shop, manage and activate a selection of a la carte apps and bundles like StreamSaver, Now TV and Now TV Latino. Later this year, Xfinity will “give customers new ways to save through StreamStore with new StreamSaver bundles,” as well as additional streaming apps to add a la carte, plus “enhanced subscription management” and activation capabilities across devices and on xfinity.com, according to the cable opeator.

Comcast’s move to up the ante in aggregating streaming apps and content comes as rival Verizon earlier this month discontinued its +play subscription marketplace, launched in 2022 to provide “content and digital services with added perks and offers in a one-stop shop.” Verizon says it’s now letting customers select streaming add-ons and other perks through its myPlan and myHome programs for mobile and internet service.
