Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has got a decision that he may not have expected to have to make for next season after one player’s performances at the Club World Cup.
As the Blues went on to win the competition, they were buoyed by the displays of Robert Sanchez between the sticks, who kept a clean sheet in the final against PSG.
It has been reported that Chelsea have changed their mind on Sanchez, after it was believed that he was on the list to be sold this summer.
After Djordje Petrovic’s departure to Bournemouth, Chelsea would need to enter the market to have a different option to the Spaniard for the new season.
Unnamed manager praises Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez
Following praise from Enzo Fernandez and Liam Delap for the performance in the final, Sanchez is in a very strong position when it comes to his future at the club right now.
It looks as if managers of other clubs have also taken note of the goalkeeper’s performances over the last few months, and what he brings to Chelsea.
Matt Law has claimed that an unnamed manager recently told him that despite any mistakes he may make, he will be a positive for whichever side has him.
He told the ‘London is Blue’ podcast: “I was talking to a manager. And this manager has got quite a good reputation with goalkeepers, and I brought Sanchez up with him, and he said, he’s a really interesting goalkeeper, because in his opinion, he will save you more points than he will cost you.”

Chelsea legend still not won over by Sanchez
Sanchez has had his critics since his move to Stamford Bridge two years ago, with one of those notably being former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel.
With the high standards he has set during his time as a player, he only wants the absolute best in West London, and he isn’t convinced the current goalkeeper offers this.
Mikel said Chelsea still need a new goalkeeper despite Sanchez’s brilliance in the final, with a number of names previously linked with a move.
Chelsea have shown interest in Mike Maignan and Gianluigi Donnarumma, however could do a lot worse than move forward with the Spaniard as their number one.
