It’s been two years since Clark Kent made his last appearance in a film. Now, Zack Snyder’s DC universe is gone, and a new era has begun – Superman, directed by James Gunn, is heading to the movie theatres.
The film features David Corenswet as the Kryptonian superhero, Rachel Brosnahan as journalist Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as the iconic villain, Lex Luthor. It captures the early days of Clark Kent’s superhero journey and introduces many other iconic DC Comics characters, such as Green Lantern, Mister Terrific, and Hawkgirl.

When could Superman be released on VOD?
Warner Bros., the studio which distributes Superman, hasn’t yet revealed any information on the film’s digital premiere. However, we will try to predict when it may arrive on VOD services like Amazon Video or Sky Store.
Much will depend on the box office performance of Superman. The latest DC flick is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and most likely, it will be a box office smash hit. If this does indeed happen, Warner won’t rush Superman’s digital premiere.
Studio’s most successful releases, such as Dune Part Two or Sinners, tend to appear on VOD around 46 days after they open in cinemas. However, A Minecraft Movie and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice did so, respectively, in 39 and 32 days.
Therefore, in the US, Superman may drop on VOD between Tuesday, 12 August 2025 and Tuesday, 26 August 2025.
In the United Kingdom, the new film about Clark Kent will likely hit digital around the same time as in the US, as was the case with the movies mentioned above.

When could Superman be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Warner’s most profitable movies usually hit stores 28 days after the digital release. However, there are exceptions to that. The aforementioned Beetlejuice Beetlejuice appeared on DVD and Blu-ray 42 days after the premiere on VOD. Interestingly, copies of A Minecraft Movie and Sinners first appeared on streaming services, before dropping on disc four days later.
Based on this, we expect Superman to launch on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, at the earliest, and on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, at the latest.
In the United Kingdom, physical copies of Warner films typically arrive around 42 days after they are released on VOD. Therefore, Superman may appear in UK stores around 7 October 2025.
When could Superman be released on streaming services?
In the US, A Minecraft Movie will stream on HBO Max. Some Warner films drop on the service very quickly – Dune: Part Two and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice appeared on HBO Max, respectively, 7 and 17 days after DVD and Blu-ray debut.
By contrast, Sinners took 31 days to arrive, and A Minecraft Movie took 38 days after the VOD release.
Therefore, we believe Superman will premiere on HBO Max between Friday, 12 September 2025 and Friday, 24 October 2025.
UK-based fans can catch Superman on Sky Cinema and Now. Considering previous releases, it will probably hit streaming in this country at a different time than in the States, but we can’t yet predict an exact time. Stay tuned to get more information on this matter.
