106’ — PAUL WANNER IS ON!! Tim Oermann subbed off. Germany are desperate, and with an attacker heavy setup, they’re more likely to at least score once.
105’ — And the first part of extra time comes to an end. Germany managed to blow 15 minutes in absolutely nothing and a goal conceded.
97’ — Substitution, Nicolo Tresoldi comes on for Eric Martel. Germany trying to reverse the course by putting a striker on.
90+1’ — That is a phenomenally timed nap from Germany, as they concede at the worst possible time. 3-2.
Extra time — And we’re off! 30 mins for Germany to score once and then defend for their lives.
90+4’ — Sh*t. We head into extra time.
90’ — +4 minutes! Still on the hunt for that final goal…
86’ — Another substitution, as Nathaniel Brown comes off for Lukas Ullrich.
80’ — Substitution. Goalscorer Weiper comes off for Merlin Rohl. The setup is being changed, one more goal should seal the deal.
73’ — Substitution. Brajan Gruda has been off his game tonight. Rather atypical of him. He comes off for Angsar Knauff.
61’ — HOLY MOLY!! That corner kick was fantastic, but my god Nebel! Paused, dribbled, timed beautifully and took that seemingly impossible shot. Gorgeous finish. 2-2 to Germany. Nebel has been the German hero we needed all game so far.
Second half — And we’re back on! Can Germany go past the poor first half and redeem themselves?
45+1’ — GERMANY IS BACK IN THE GAME! A fantastic free kick by Nebel is converted by Nelson Weiper. A beautiful, absolutely stunning header worth watching over and over. That gives us the confidence we need, 2-1. The comeback might be on after all!
24’ — Germany got opened up, just like that. England are absolutely in control, and that lethal finish from Omari Hutchinson sealed the deal. 2-0 to England.
5’ — That was a complete defensive crumble from Germany, a ball that should have been cleared a lot better and a lot earlier. Harvey Elliot seizes the chance and makes it 1-0.
Kickoff — And we’re underway! Can Germany bag the trophy?
Lineups are out!
Germany is fielding a strong startelf and the bench is no exception — featuring the likes of Paul Wanner and Angsar Knauff.
Here we are. In case you have missed it, the Germany U-21 men have run riot through the UEFA European Under-21 Championships this summer and have reached the Final, where they face off today at 3:00PM EDT against England — a team they have already beaten in the group stage.
The big story of the tournament from a Bayern Munich perspective has been the rise of Nick Woltemade, who has six goals and three assists. The VfB Stuttgart and German men’s national team forward has likely played his way to a Munich transfer with his performances…but has also seen his transfer value skyrocket.
A round-up of Germany’s run as covered by BFW’s Jack Laushway:
