Fiorentina have announced they have exercised their option-to-buy Albert Gudmundsson on a permanent basis, after spending the season on loan from Genoa.
The 28-year-old played a key role as La Viola qualified for the UEFA Conference League, finishing in sixth place in Serie A.

Posting on their official website, the club confirmed they had exercised the option to sign the player permanently.
Gudmundsson scored six goals and assisted two in 24 Serie A games for Fiorentina in the 2024-25 season – also featuring eight times in the Conference League where he scored twice and assisted once.

Gudmundsson signs as Fiorentina show intent
Fiorentina are making strong early moves in the transfer market, progressing in a move to complete the signing of Edin Dzeko from Fenerbahce.
It is still unknown as to the total fee that will be paid to Genoa for Gudmundson’s signature. Earlier today, we revealed that La Viola were hoping to secure a deal for the forward around the €12-13 million mark – somewhat below the €17 million figure in the player’s loan contract.
