Stocks Open Higher on Hopes U.S. Stays out of Israel-Iran Conflict

The stock market returned from the Juneteenth holiday with some modest gains at the open as Wall Street held out hope the Israel-Iran conflict can be resolved without the U.S. getting involved.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 142 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500 was up 0.4%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.6%.

President Donald Trump said in a statement read on Thursday by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt that he would make a decision on Iran in the next two weeks. There were worries on Wall Street the president would opt for strikes before the end of the week.
