For the uninitiated, Ju Xing Home isn’t a total stranger to Singapore. Back in 2023, it had already opened its first overseas outpost at Ngee Ann City. By launching this express concept, they are hoping that more people have access to this restaurant’s dishes.

The sauerkraut fish is prepared using the exact same recipe as the original at Ju Xing Home. Customers can therefore expect the signature hot, spicy, and sour flavours, a combination well-loved by many celebrities like Alan Tam, Jay Chou, and Bosco Wong.

Some of you may be wondering, since Singapore already has so many sauerkraut fish establishments, how does the version at Ju Xing Fish stand out?

For starters, it’s lighter and less oily for a healthier twist. The broth is also boiled and simmered slowly with an entire chicken, including its bones and feet for a real flavour boost. Fresh pickled mustard and fish are then added at the end for maximum crunch and softness.

The Signature Sauerkraut Fish is available in 2 varieties: Sea Bass Fish Fillet (S$11.80) and the firmer Crunchy Grass Carp Fish Fillet (S$13.80). To switch things up, there’s also Mala and Tomato options, too. For an extra S$1, you can pair it with White Rice, Claypot Noodle or Bee Hoon.

You can also find pao fan here — something exclusive to Ju Xing Fish. Traditionalists can look forward to the original Sauerkraut Fish Pao Fan (S$12.80 for sea bass, S$14.80 for crunchy grass carp). It’s filled with mustard leaves, enoki mushroom, silken tofu, crispy egg floss, and the all-important crispy rice crackers (mmm!).

To spice things up, there’s also a Tomato and Mala version available at the same price.

What’s a meal without some awesome sides to complement it? Try some refreshing cold Spicy Pickled Radish (S$3.80) or enjoy the crunch by ordering the Crispy Fish Skin (S$3.80) and Crispy Mermaid Fish (S$4.80).

If you’re working near City Hall — great news! Ju Xing Fish is just a stone’s throw away on the 3rd level of Raffles City within The Food Place by Food Republic. Go give them a try.
