WWD and its sister publication Sourcing Journal are teaming up and gathering leaders from fashion, retail and manufacturing in Hong Kong on Wednesday to examine how innovation, trade and culture are redefining the industry.
Kim Jones, artistic director of Kim Jones Studio; Fausto Puglisi, creative director of Roberto Cavalli, and Jason Wu will be among those putting the fashion world under the microscope.
Supply chain dynamics, sustainability, machine learning, material innovation and sourcing are among the vital issues slated to be addressed at the inaugural WWD x SJ Global Fashion and Business Conference, which will be held at the Regent Hong Kong.
The event is being presented by parent company Fairchild Media Group in partnership with the Hong Kong Fashion Council and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency.
The conference comes at a high time for fashion for the city as it is also welcoming the Hong Kong Fashion Fest, which is being presented by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
“We are honored to partner with the Hong Kong Fashion Council for this year’s Fashion Fest, which celebrates Hong Kong’s global influence in fashion and culture,” said Amanda Smith, chief executive officer of Fairchild. “Bringing our content and global perspective to Hong Kong is a natural extension of Fairchild Media Group’s vision to expand our brands’ thought leadership to key fashion markets and foster dialogue that shapes the industry’s future.”
Fairchild and the Hong Kong Fashion Council will celebrate the culmination of the style-heavy week with the inaugural WWD Fashion Loves Culture Gala.
On hand for the occasion will be Kiernan Shipka, the acclaimed actress and fashion muse known for her breakout role in “Mad Men,” as well as Damson Idris, who starred as rookie Joshua Pearce in the hit “F1: The Movie” along with Brad Pitt.
Fairchild, the authoritative source for breaking news and analysis of the fashion and sourcing worlds, has been expanding its global events portfolio and over the last year has gathered top industry executives in Riyadh, London, Bangkok and New York.
