  • “He guessed a size (a size larger than I am), and said he almost guessed a size above that, so he was thinking two sizes larger than I am,” the woman said

A woman is starting to see red flags in the early stages of a potential relationship based on some concerning comments she received.

The individual turned to the UK-based online forum Mumsnet for advice after the guy she’s been getting to know repeatedly mentioned her clothing size. She explained that they’ve been texting daily, but they haven’t been on a date yet.

She said they have an age gap, but the man has been complimenting her appearance, emphasizing how much he likes her “ ‘curvy figure.’ ”

“When speaking with him today in person, he said he did have a question but didn’t know if it would be inappropriate,” the woman said. “I prodded as he brought it up so he may as well say it. And he asked ‘what size’ then looked me up and down.”

The woman recounted the situation, admitting that she was thrown off and didn’t give him a proper answer.

The man went on to guess her clothing size and confessed “he was thinking two sizes larger” than she is.

“I was a bit taken back, and didn’t know what to make of it,” she said. “I asked why he wanted to know and he said it was just curiosity. How would you react to this? Do I let it go?”

The majority of responses to the post empathized with the woman and shared concerns about the man’s “creepy” comments.

“It’s not a strange question in itself but in the context you have described it would flash warning signs. Trust your gut, if it feels weird, it probably is,” one person wrote.

“I would assume it was a kink for him and be out off instantly,” said another.

“I’d give him a swerve, most normal men wouldn’t be interested in what specific size you are, if they feel the need to comment, it would just be something like ‘you have a lovely figure,’ ” a third added.

Among the commenters were people saying that body size is usually only asked when gifting clothes.

“It’s weird so early on in your relationship,” one person said. “If you’d been going out for a while, I’d suspect he was planning on buying some saucy underwear or something, but you haven’t dated, kissed or anything yet. The fact he suggested one or two sizes above what you are – I’m not sure how I’d take that.”

Agreeing, another wrote: “He doesn’t like you and is not interested in a romantic relationship. He wants to f— you and is trying to push things in that direction as fast as possible. He has some kind of a fetish for larger women, probably a porn thing. In short, he is gross.”
