A woman is alleged to have raped an underage boy multiple times after she met him at a funeral, according to police.
Ayla Gonzalez Salinas, 20, is alleged to have engaged in sexual activities with the boy after they met at a funeral in the November of last year. The alleged incidents happened at multiple points throughout December, according to an affidavit. Police from Florida’s Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office claim the pair started messaging one another on social media in November last year. The age of the boy was not included in the report but the allegations facing Salinas indicate the child was aged between 12 and 16 at the time of the reported incidents.
Salinas was apprehended after police were alerted in January to the alleged sexual encounters between the pair. Following an investigation, alleged texts sent between the pair said they “agreed they should get their ‘story straight”.
The texts also reportedly included the claim the underage boy began the sexual relationship and mentioned how many times they met.
Salinas has since been charged with seven counts of lewd or lascivious battery of a victim and is currently being held at the Palm Beach County jail.
In Florida, you can face the charge after being alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with someone who is between 12 and 16 years old. According to Florida-based Hanlon Law, consent is not a defence when faced with the charge.
General sentencing guidelines for a second-degree felony for the charge go up to 15 years. In certain cases the sentence length can vary based on circumstances of the case and are left to the judge’s discretion.
The incident comes after another incident in the state gained international attention.
Alexis Von Yates, 35, had her nursing license suspended after she allegedly groomed and had sex with her 15-year-old stepson.
Yates was apprehended last year and charged with sexual battery on a victim aged between 12 and 16, according to court documents.
She was allegedly caught having sex with her husband’s biological son in July 2024.
An anonymous tip led Yates being investigated and ultimately arrested. According to a Marion County arrest warrant, Yates put her two children to bed and then hung out watching a movie with the 15-year-old teen.
The pair then played video games and smoked a THC vape while the dad was working late.
Documents alleged Yates told the victim she was “horny” and that she had “not had sex in two weeks and she was on her period.”
Court documents also alleged a day after the incident that Yates called the boy and told him that she wished her husband had not found them during the alleged sexual encounter.
