Thus far in our series on “The Fashion of Wine,” we’ve covered the slow-moving trends of antiquity and the Bordeaux boom of the 1800s. But what was the catalyst for embarking on this exploration in the first place?
It traces back to a conversation between Keith Beavers and Sarita Cheaves, co-host of “The Swirl Suite” wine podcast, about the intersection of wine and pop culture. On top of being a podcaster, Cheaves is also a wine professional, author, influencer, and producer. And she just so happens to be a big fan of media, television, and film. So Keith brought her on the pod to revisit that conversation and pick up where they left off.
On this episode of “Wine 101,” Keith Beavers and Sarita Cheaves talk about pairing wines with music and clothes, the idea of wine as a status accessory, and how wine trends take hold in a time when information travels so quickly. Tune in for more.

“Wine 101” was produced, recorded, and edited by yours truly, Keith Beavers, at the VinePair headquarters in New York City. I want to give a big old shout-out to co-founders Adam Teeter and Josh Malin for creating VinePair. Big shout-out to Danielle Grinberg, the art director of VinePair, for creating the most awesome logo for this podcast. Also, Darby Cicci for the theme song. And I want to thank the entire VinePair staff for helping me learn something new every day. See you next week.
