STORY: The wait is nearly over.
Hollywood’s biggest night is just around the corner, and the fashion world is eagerly anticipating it.
UPSOT: “It’s just a lot of excitement in the air, a lot of energy.”
So, what can we expect celebrities to be wearing on the Oscars’ red carpet?
For celebrity stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn, it’s all about bold reds, metallics, and structural pieces.
“The trend that I’ve been seeing that is a little different than, like, you know, just colors or textures, is these really sculptural dresses. You know, Louis Vuitton has really been playing with these, like, really interesting shapes. And then, you know, just like really interesting kind of sculptural necklines and just the things that feel a little bit more avant-garde than your normal gown.”
In recent years, sustainable fashion has also taken center stage at the Oscars, with many celebrities choosing to wear archival designs.
Leading the way is actress Cate Blanchett, often wearing vintage or pre-worn gowns.
“There’s this like real resurgence into digging into the archives.”
Meanwhile, Esquire UK’s style director, Johnny Davis, expects to see a mix of old and new Hollywood style, with muted, low-key looks dominating the red carpet.
“Because of the recent wildfires, I think potentially wearing something that’s kind of shouty and loud is maybe not the way to go, and going for a classic would be what I’d expect. But, you know, who knows? It’s a big night, and you want to make an impression, don’t you? If you want to, these guys want to be noticed and talked about afterwards. So, you know, anything’s possible really.”
