Banishments on The Traitors, including the Celebrity version remain one of the most exciting parts of the BBC game show, as the Faithfuls try to suss out the Traitors, in order to win up to £100,000 for either themselves or for charity.
However, tonight’s Celebrity Traitors was a history-making episode as the first ever UK banishment tiebreaker took place.
Following two rounds of voting on Wednesday night (October 22), presenter Claudia Winkleman announced the banishment would be left to chance after Scottish actor Mark Bonnar and historian David Olusoga received an equal amount of votes.
In the second round of voting, they both received five votes each after making a final plea, while gathered with their fellow contestants at the roundtable.
At the end of Wednesday’s instalment, Claudia, told the celebrities: “Players, it is still a draw, therefore we will now leave this banishment to the hands of fate.”
Although tiebreakers have taken place on other seasons of The Traitors around the world, there have been different rules depending on the country.
What happens in the Traitors if there is a tie?
But Thursday’s episode of Celebrity Traitors UK saw Mark banished from the Scottish castle after the tiebreaker.

We now know that Mark and David were each given a wooden chest, one had a shield inside it, while the other was empty.
David chose his chest first, which had the shield inside, so he was saved, while Mark left the Scottish castle.
But will it remain the same for any further banishment tiebreakers? Only time will tell.
