Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US election and says he’s ready to hold discussions with the new American leader who’s pledged to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, speaking in Budapest on Thursday, called for “a fair ending to the war” and warned that a swift end to hostilities could force his country into a defeat.
