Volkswagen has officially become the new automotive sponsor of LALIGA and Liga F, marking a pivotal expansion in the German carmaker’s commitment to global football and sustainable mobility.
This multi-season partnership spans both the men’s and women’s top divisions in Spain, underscoring Volkswagen’s strategic investment in sport, innovation, and electric transformation.
Under the agreement, Volkswagen becomes the official automotive partner of LALIGA EA Sports and LALIGA Hypermotion, covering Spain’s top two professional men’s leagues. Simultaneously, the brand takes on the role of global sponsor for Liga F Moeve, Spain’s premier women’s football competition.
The partnership reflects a broader alignment of values—where football’s emotional reach meets Volkswagen’s vision for a cleaner, more connected future. The collaboration will spotlight Volkswagen’s electric ID. series, using LALIGA and Liga F platforms to promote sustainable mobility and deeper fan engagement.
Commenting on the occasion, Enrique Pifarré, General Manager of Volkswagen Spain, said, “Today we announce our collaboration with the best league in the world. This agreement makes perfect sense for us because it connects two passions deeply rooted in society: football and cars. Through this partnership with LALIGA and Liga F, we aim to get closer to those who live sport with passion, accompanying them with more sustainable, innovative, and emotionally engaging mobility.”
Jorge de la Vega, Executive Director of LALIGA, added, “We are very proud to welcome Volkswagen as an official sponsor. This alliance not only strengthens our commitment to sustainability and innovation but also demonstrates that sport can be a catalyst for positive change. Together, we will work to bring football closer to society from a more conscious, inclusive, and transformative perspective”.
Pablo Vilches, CEO of Liga F, highlighted, “It is an honour for Liga F to announce this agreement with a globally prestigious brand like Volkswagen. We are building strategic partnerships that not only support the visibility and growth of our competition but also help foster sustainability and innovation within women’s football. We share common values in our passion for sport and the importance of responsible mobility that respects our environment. These kinds of collaborations are key to strengthening the growth of both clubs and players, while also deepening the bond with fans to elevate Liga F as one of the most competitive and respected leagues in the world”.
With Volkswagen’s global platform, Liga F expects a significant boost in international reach and brand value. The sponsorship provides both financial support and marketing muscle, designed to elevate the league’s competitiveness and deepen connections with fans worldwide.
Volkswagen’s entry into Spanish football builds on its long-standing legacy in the sport. From being UEFA’s official mobility partner (2018–2022) to its current role as a sponsor of UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, the brand maintains a robust presence in football. It also holds club partnerships with the German Football Association, Atlético de Madrid, Valencia CF, and VfL Wolfsburg, reinforcing its pan-European footprint.
As part of the rollout, Volkswagen will launch a series of nationwide activations, in-stadium branding, fan experiences, and digital campaigns across all 42 clubs in LALIGA’s men’s divisions and 16 clubs in Liga F. The brand will be integrated into broadcasts, content platforms, and matchday experiences, ensuring visibility at every touchpoint.
This strategic partnership sets a new benchmark in football sponsorship by delivering equal commitment across both men’s and women’s professional leagues—a rarity in global sport. For Volkswagen, it’s not just a commercial move—it’s a statement of intent: to shape the future of football through purpose-driven partnerships.
