Experienced medical administrator Libby Lee Ha-yun will take over as the Hospital Authority’s new chief executive next month, with the doctor pledging to deliver heart-warming service with a human touch at a time when the organisation must carry out far-reaching reforms.
Authorities said on Wednesday that Lee, the current undersecretary for health and previously part of the authority’s senior management, would take up the new role after Tony Ko Pat-sing’s term ended on July 31.
Lee, who will leave her current post on July 14, has been appointed to serve as the authority’s chief executive for three years.
Cecilia Fan Yuen-man, currently a consultant in family medicine at the Department of Health, will succeed Lee as the undersecretary for health on the same day and work alongside health minister Lo Chung-mau.
Fan, 57, had worked in the department for more than 30 years.
“Dr Lee is making a strong return to the Hospital Authority to become its chief executive,” Lo said. “I’m very confident she can help drive reform and innovation at the Hospital Authority in her new role.”
