MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The U.P. Children’s Museum hosted its 21st annual Celebrity Art Auction Thursday.
Twenty-one Marquette celebrities auctioned off handmade art pieces including things like paintings, sculptures and experiences. Guests browsed the art with appetizers and drinks before bidding on their favorite items.
U.P. Children’s Museum Executive Director Jessica Hanley says the community is always generous during the auction because of how much it loves the museum.
“[The museum] is here to help the kids grow and learn through discovery and play in a safe space where they can feel welcome regardless of any age or ability,” Hanley said. “We’re always open to everyone and I think that that’s how the museum is seen by everyone to this day after almost 30 years being open.”
All the money raised from the auction will go back to the Children’s Museum for daily operations and special programs.
