UK wage growth slows and unemployment rate rises

Wage growth in the UK has declined to its lowest level since November, while unemployment crept up in the last three months ahead of tax increases and a rise in the minimum wage, official data showed.

Wage growth slowed to 5.6 per cent in the three months to March, down from 5.9 per cent in the previous three months, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Tuesday. The figure was below analysts’ expectations of growth of 5.7 per cent.
