Nirav, who is currently facing extradition proceedings, had petitioned the UK High Court seeking bail citing potential threats to his life. Denying any wrongdoing, Nirav had submitted that if released on bail he would not flee Britain. His bail plea was strongly opposed by the counsel for Indian investigating agencies. The hearing lasted for over three hours in the UK High Court on Thursday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation in a statement said that the bail arguments were strongly opposed by the Crown Prosecution Service advocate who was ably assisted by a strong CBI team consisting of investigating and law officers who travelled to London for this purpose. The agency said that Modi’s extradition has already been approved by the High Court of the UK in favour of the Government of India.
“This is his 10th bail petition since his detention in UK which was successfully defended by CBI through Crown Prosecution Service, London,” said Central Bureau of Investigation.
