ALBANY, N.Y. – Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III will detail arrests and criminal charges stemming from a raid executed by U.S. immigration and border control agents on a Cayuga County food production facility at 11 a.m. today in Albany.

Homeland Security investigators and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials will join Sarcone in his office to also “warn employers across the Northern District of New York that they risk criminal investigation if they are employing non-citizens who are not authorized to work in the United States,” according to a statement from the acting U.S. attorney.

At least five persons detained during last week’s raid were charged with reentry of removed alien, or illegally reentering the U.S., according to federal criminal complaints filed Monday.

About 50 federal and local officers on Thursday detained workers at the Nutrition Bar Confectioners Factory in Cato, in what ICE described as “court-authorized enforcement actions.” The action drew outrage from Gov. Kathy Hochul and other elected officials.

The raid ripped families apart, leaving them separated and unable to contact those detained. Some still did not know the whereabouts of their loved ones on Monday.
