WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – A massive trade deal reached between the U.S. and the European Union.
It comes just three days before the U.S.-imposed deadline.
It consists of a 15% tariff on most imported goods from the 27 European Union countries, like cars, wine, pharmaceuticals, and industrial machinery.
The announcement came during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen.
“We are together the two largest economies worldwide,” said Von Der Leyen. “If you look at the trade volume, it’s the biggest trade volume globally with $1.7 trillion among us.”
The deal is half of the original 30% tariff President Trump floated back in April.
While details of the deal remain murky, President Trump expressed there’s still work left to be done.
“We have a rough situation. If we want to sell cars in Europe, we’re not allowed to,” said Trump. “And as you know, they sell millions and millions of cars, Mercedes, BMW, so many different Volkswagen, so many different cars.”
