Troy Deeney predicts how many Premier League goals and assists Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho will get

There’s a lot of intrigue to see how Alejandro Garnacho gets on during his first season at Chelsea. Troy Deeney has actually just made a fascinating prediction about the new Blues star.

The Blues completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho, 21, from rivals Manchester United late in the summer transfer window.

He’s become the third Argentine in the current squad, along with Enzo Fernandez and Facundo Buonanotte.

Garnacho, who will wear the No.49 shirt, arrives at Chelsea to try and provide more attacking firepower. The left-winger has proven in the past he can perform in English football, but now he’s facing the challenge of a brand new move for the first time in his senior career.

At Stamford Bridge, Garnacho will compete with new teammates Jamie Gittens, Estevao Willian, Tyrique George and Pedro Neto for the starting wide roles.

Troy Deeney’s prediction on Alejandro Garnacho

During the latest episode of The Football Exchange, Troy Deeney was asked to predict how many goals and assists Chelsea signing Garnacho would get in the Premier League this season.

Deeney said: “I’m going to say seven [goals] and five [assists]. I don’t think he’s going to start every week. There’s going to be a lot of growth in him as a Chelsea player. He’d score first as opposed to assist first. Does that fit with what Maresca wants? I’m really not sure.”

Even though supporters are divided, Chelsea’s directors agree on Garnacho and were all on the same page when they came to pushing for his signature. Let’s wait and see if their trust was justified.

In an ideal world, Chelsea’s main attackers would each be hitting double digits for both goals and assists across all competitions. We’re looking towards an individual like Garnacho as someone who should be aiming for that, along with plenty of his teammates.

Scott Minto thinks the left wing is open for Garnacho to come in and cement his spot in the XI, but he will be judged a lot on his attacking output.
