The Transport Department (TD) reminded the public to be cautious of recent fake messages which falsely claim that the Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles (NBT) scheme is being extended to other boundary control points (BCPs) and that details regarding the upcoming Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles are available. The statement follows recent messages circulating on social media and messaging groups that the NBT schemes will allow cross-border travel at four ports including Huanggang, Sha Tau Kok, Liangtang and Shenzhen Bay at the end of this year. TD clarified that the NBT scheme currently only applies to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and does not include other boundary control points. TD emphasized that the Shenzhen Bay Ad Hoc Quotas for Cross Boundary Private Cars and the NBT are two different schemes, and private cars cannot be approved for both simultaneously. The NBT scheme, implemented in September this year, allows travel without the need for advance bookings, but is only available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (excluding specified dates). Additionally, eligible private car owners wishing to enter Guangdong under the Shenzhen Bay Ad Hoc Quotas must submit an application for each trip.
