MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) –
October is breast cancer awareness month, and one Meridian native held a fashion show to help spread awareness and uplift breast cancer survivors.
The fashion show had a variety of sweets and jewelry for attendees to buy, and while it was free to attend, all donations went towards helping breast cancer survivors. One of the models in the fashion show has actually overcome breast cancer twice.
“I have many friends that do have breast cancer, so I said one day I would be able to promote breast cancer, because I never get the chance to do anything for breast cancer. So I waited until October, which that’s my birthday month, so I just try to make the best of October since I know it’s a lot. You know it is breast cancer awareness month,” said Meissa Martin.
The show featured several different models including men, women and children, with multiple outfit changes. This is also the 8th fashion show that Meissa has held, with hopes to continue holding more in the future.
