Thierry Henry has snubbed Liverpool in naming who he believes will win the 2025/26 Premier League title. The Reds lifted their record-equalling 20th English league crown last term, doing so in style under Arne Slot’s maiden voyage at the helm, as they opened up a 10-point chasm between themselves and Arsenal.
The general consensus this summer is that the champions have recruited the best so far, too. Florian Wirtz shattered the British transfer fee record before Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong followed him through Anfield’s doors. Now, they’re in search of a new striker, with both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike being closely monitored.
It would seem the rest of the country is stuck playing a hopeful game of catch-up. But that hasn’t stopped Henry – arguably the greatest player in Premier League history – from believing that it’s finally time for his former club to go all the way and claim their first league title in over 20 years, dating back to when he himself was still spearheading the Gunners’ attack.

In the last three seasons, Arsenal have finished second each time. And while it seemed like they would be the first to pounce should Manchester City’s winning machine splutter, it was Liverpool who instead showed they had what it takes to grab another slice of victory last term. But Henry believes Mikel Arteta will get them over the line in 2026.
During a recent interview with Men in Blazers, the Frenchman sang the praises of Arteta, even though he hasn’t won anywhere near as much silverware as many would have expected after six years in charge. He said (watch the full segment below):
“Do I think that Mikel Arteta is doing a great job? Tremendous job. Do I think he should get the sack? Hell no. Am I going to think we’re going to win the league this year? Yes. It’s been good, it’s got to be better.”
He continued: “I do understand when people keep asking whether we are going to go over the line. But [across five years], if we come second, second, second, it doesn’t mean we are going to come short again. You’re not going to win all the time.
“But to be in a position to win, you need to first and foremost be in a position to know how to win – that’s what they’ve done recently, and hopefully, they can go over the line.”
Indeed, for some, there’s a concern that the Gunners may have missed their golden opportunity for success – and that, instead, they’ll soon become victims of their own near-misses, losing momentum in the process. It takes someone great to keep coming back for more; every big team has endured a drought after a period of dominance.
But Arsenal need to start turning those close calls into actual triumphs – and fast – if they’re to avoid being remembered for what might have been rather than what was achieved.
