As India finally welcomes Tesla into their market after years of wait it can pretty well be said that the Electric Vehicle market in the country is on a rise. Not only Tesla, but companies like VinFast and Kia are also gearing up to launch their newer models and begin taking pre-bookings as the business grows.
The EV market is heating up as Tesla is launching its first car in the country with its Model Y, whereas VinFast is looking to launch its new VF6 and VF7 models. On the other end, Kia is also looking to put their foot forward as they launch the Carens Clavis EV. This buzz in the EV market is ever since the reports came out stating that EV adoption in the passenger car segment grew 4.4% in June 2025, from 2.5% last year, on account of government subsidies.
The Elon Musk-owned EV giant is entering the Indian market with its top selling SUV car, Model Y. The vehicle will be available in a sleek, dark-grey shade with sporty black alloy wheels. What sets it apart from other SUVs is its signature sloping roofline and clean, aerodynamic silhouette.
The EV offers an upgraded and ultra-responsive 15.4-inch touchscreen at the front near the driver’s seat and an 8-inch touchscreen for the passengers. The SUV also includes Tesla’s signature tech features like internet connectivity, wireless charging, multiple USB-C ports, voice-activated controls, and app-based vehicle access.
On the other end both VinFast and Kia are looking to launch their SUV models in the market soon too. The Vietnamese brand VinFast is set to take pre-bookings for VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs shortly, these will be their first two models in the country. Kia will also be entering the market with its first ever 7-seater EV model which will be launched at an affordable rate and will be looked upon as the MPV of the brand.
