UPDATE: The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be holding two public meetings this week to discuss the proposed Interstate 24 project in Hamilton County.
The second meeting will be on Thursday, July 10, from 5:00-7:00pm at John A. Patten Community Center on Kelly Ferry Road.
The proposal is to widen a 10-mile section of I-24 from the interchange with I-59 east to the split at Highway 27 in downtown Chattanooga.
TDOT officials said the area has frequent congestion due primarily to the heavy amount of travel each day.
The meetings are meant to give residents a chance to learn more about the project and give their own feedback.
The first of the two meetings was Tuesday at the Chattanooga Public Library on Broad Street.
