Based in Westminster, the one-day-only salon opening at 10am on the 26th of November, will invite guests to swap tax talk for transformation, with a menu of witty looks like The Fiscal Fringe and The Balanced Bob. Each cut comes with a dose of financial therapy, reminding Brits that cuts don’t have to mean compromise.
New research of 2,000 adults across the UK from Lebara reveals that 7 in 10 Brits feel squeezed by rising costs and one third (30%) say they’re fed up with mobile providers that quietly hike prices. Yet over a third (38%) of Brits admit they’ve never switched mobile providers, even though they know it could save them money.
As Chancellor Rachel Reeves is set to announce fresh tax hikes next week, Lebara Mobile is offering Britain a feel-good alternative: The Smarter Cuts Salon, a tongue-in-cheek pop-up with legendary stylist Nicky Clarke giving the nation a trim that saves more than just split ends. In fact, Brits now find their mobile bills equally confusing as Budget speeches, with only 6% saying big mobile networks are transparent and fair. Two thirds (65%) of Brits say big mobile networks are as bad as politicians when it comes to breaking promises, with unexpected price rises (42%) and giving “woolly explanations” for additional charges like roaming or international calls (26%).
Nicky Clarke commented: “I’m delighted to be launching the Smarter Cuts salon with Lebara. As someone who’s spent a lifetime crafting a range of high-end hairstyles, I believe you should never have to compromise to look and feel your best. With Lebara, you know you can count on securing a great value deal for your mobile and an excellent service, meaning the only cuts in life should be to unnecessary taxes, not quality haircuts.”
“Budget Week can often feel like a bad-hair day for everyone’s finances,” said Mayur Jauhari, Commercial Director, Lebara Mobile UK. “At Lebara, we’re showing that there are smart choices to be made, and cutting down on personal costs to save money doesn’t mean you should compromise on quality. While other big mobile networks are quietly raising prices each year, we’re proud to stay consistent and reliable, maintaining an excellent service – because not every rise means missing out on incredible value.”
Further research from Lebara found that over half of Brits (63%) say they are trimming back on eating out or takeaways; (49%) are cutting social outings, while a third (33%) are even cutting back on birthday and Christmas gifting – proof that life’s small pleasures are being sacrificed in 2025’s cost-of-living crunch.
However, through making smarter choices, 85% of Brits have saved between £5-£40/month switching from a big mobile provider.
Whilst the Government’s highly anticipated tax rises might hit hard, Lebara’s Smarter Cuts help Britons save where it matters most – proving that cutting costs doesn’t mean cutting quality.
The Smarter Cut Salon will be open to both bookings and walk ins from 10am until 8pm on the 26th November at St James Park Tube, 55 Broadway, London SW1A 2BD.
