The 2025 VMAs was a big night for Tate McRae and the T8er Tots.
On top of being nominated for multiple Video Music Awards, Tate performed on the main stage for the first time! Which reminds me: can’t wait to immediately spend the next 1-5 work days “out sick” so I can learn the choreography.
Anyway, Tate arrived on the 2025 VMAs red carpet looking reading to win, wearing a completely sheer and completely gorgeous white gown. She paired the look with matching white underwear and loose waves.
Everyone’s clicking on…
On the carpet during MTV’s pre-show broadcast, the 22-year-old singer said that the dress was inspired by “scorned woman inspired by medusa… turning [boys] into stone.”
Kay, so Tate was nominated for several awards on the night, including Song of the Year for ‘Sports Car.’ The category was pretty stacked with Alex Warren for ‘Ordinary,’ Billie Eilish for ‘Birds of a Feather,’ Doechii for ‘Anxiety,’ Ed Sheeran for ‘Sapphire,’ Gracie Abrams for ‘I Love You, I’m Sorry,’ Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars for ‘Die With a Smile,’ Lorde for ‘What Was That,’ Rosé & Bruno Mars for ‘Apt.,’ and The Weeknd & Playboi Carti for ‘Timeless’.
On top of that, Tate was also nominated for Best Pop Artist, her song ‘Just Keep Watching’ from the F1 movie was up for Best Editing and Best Visual Effects nominations, and she had not one, but TWO songs up for Song of the Summer (‘Just Keep Watching’ and ‘What I Want’). Major!
And it was a good night for the singer, who bagged two of those awards, winning Best Editing and Song of the Summer – you go, Tate!
