相比十年前，上海早已有翻天覆地改變；惟十年過去，再次踏足埃及開羅（Cairo），發覺不僅外觀沒有變美，反而變得更髒更亂。 開羅街上塵土飛揚，馬路上車輛橫衝直撞，要過綫便過綫，要多快便多快，司機大哥還開玩笑說這是Egyptian style（埃及風格），習慣了便很安全。 短留兩天，便開始明白其倒退的部分原因，原本約好早上七時半起程到醫院授課，豈知其他講者遲到，司機也遲到，八時許才出發，出發後五分鐘，司機才發覺走錯路，本來十五分鐘路程，變成四十五分鐘，原以為遲到不好意思，孰料聽眾醫生們更遲，再多等大半小時，才正式開始。 在埃及，時間觀念較鬆散，從正面去看，他們視人際關係比遵守時間重要，其social norm（社會規範）當中，遲來是慣性，也是可接受行為。 從負面去看，慣性遲到可被視為不尊重別人，對等候的人既有不敬，也浪費別人時間，但當社會上每個人都抱着同樣態度，本來不敬的行為也不會再被視為不敬，大家只會一笑置之，並稱之為Egyptian time（埃及時間）。 話雖如此，不守時的社會確實難以進步，相比守時國家例如瑞士，兩者經濟發展有天淵之別，當然這國家還有連串問題，如負債過重、貪污、內部宗教糾紛……但相信人民對時間的觀念和態度，絕對會影響社會發展。 識話人唔識話自己，診所裏最不守時的，定是醫生！ Source link
