While Hong Kong’s 25,000 or so French expatriates disagree on most things, regularly rendezvousing at Louise isn’t one of them. In summer, the terrace of the Michelin-starred eatery is a clatter of “bonsoir” and la bise thanks to chef Loïc Portalier’s menu of comforting French cuisine, often enlivened with local seasonal produce.
The city’s epicureans have made much ado about Louise’s elegantly coifed takes on such classic preparations as frog legs meunière and roasted “Hong Kong” chicken (in this case, hormone- and preservative-free local fowl), but the venue’s around-the-clock appeal simply can’t be overstated. Lunch and dinner here are both suitably buzzy affairs, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better perch — set on the edge of the landmark cultural hub PMQ — for an afternoon spent people-watching. Carafe of rosé optional.
A tidbit for frequent fliers: the restaurant has been an official dining partner of Cathay Pacific, in the Hong Kong flag carrier’s first and business class cabins, since 2024.
