Hong Kong recorded nearly 1.14 million border crossings on Sunday — the final day of the Lunar New Year holiday — with over 720,000 arrivals marking a peak in inbound travel.
Some Hongkongers returning to the SAR via the Hong Kong International Airport reported enjoying a great holiday, while at Lo Wu port, others opted to return early to avoid crowds.
The Immigration Department deployed additional officers to assist travelers, and the MTR enhanced its services to accommodate the influx.
The West Kowloon high-speed rail station recorded a historic high of 136,000 crossings on the third day of the Lunar New Year, the highest since its opening in 2018.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge also experienced significant traffic, with 170,000 passengers and over 25,000 vehicles crossing on Saturday — the fourth day of the Lunar New Year — achieving the highest single-day figures since its inception.
