A Yellow Weather Warning is in effect from tonight.
Cumbria is bracing for very strong winds up to 80mph, and heavy rain from Friday evening into Saturday.
We are told to expect fallen trees and debris, power cuts and flooding.
Police are encouraging residents to prepare now by securing garden items, checking on vulnerable neighbours, as well as charging phones and torches.
They are also urging people to stay off the fells and away from coastal areas.
