After a few days of warmer weather in Staunton reaching into the low 60s, the Augusta County region may see a mix of rain and snow on Sunday depending on storm’s track and whether it will be cold enough.
It’s hard to believe that we may see temperatures as high as 68 degrees on Friday followed by the possibility of snow on Sunday, but as quickly as the warm weather arrived this week, it will make its exit next week reminding us that winter is far from over for the Shenandoah Valley.

The National Weather Forecast calls for a 50% chance of a rain during the earlier part of the day on Sunday with temperature highs in the low 40s then snow mixing with rain later that afternoon into the evening with a low of 27 degrees.
After starting off the coast of British Columbia in the eastern Pacific, the storm will track southward across California on Thursday, then swing across the Rockies on Friday and then the Central states on Saturday, according to the AccuWeather forecast.

“There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that would have to come together at the right time for a major storm to unfold and bring heavy snow late this weekend to early next week,” said Brandon Buckingham, AccuWeather meteorologist.
The exact track of the storm will determine how widespread impacts are across the region and whether it will be mainly rain or snow.
