Six years on: Key numbers behind the success of China's Greater Bay Area

Covering an area of 56,000 square kilometers, which is less than 0.6 percent of the country’s total land area, China’s Greater Bay Area – consisting of nine cities of the southern Guangdong Province and Hong Kong and Macao special administration regions – generated an economic output exceeding 14 trillion yuan (about $1.95 trillion U.S.) in 2023, roughly one-ninth of the national total.
