The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has given the green light to move the championship match between Milan and Como to Australia.
It will be the first time in history that a Serie A match will be played outside Italy.
“The FIGC Council has given a positive opinion on the Italian league’s request for the Milan-Como match to be played in Perth,” the federation said in a statement.
However, for this unusual decision to become official, approval is still needed from Football Federation Australia, UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the International Football Federation (FIFA).
The match, which is being played as part of the 24th round of Serie A in early February 2026, cannot be held at the San Siro because the stadium will host the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina on February 6.
