See projected snowfall after warnings issued

Areas of New York are forecast to be battered by several inches of snow into Saturday morning as the state is among several in the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic regions grappling with winter weather.

The inclement weather could cause travel headaches ahead of Thanksgiving. As several storm are being tracked in New York City, those attending the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade are advised to “prepare for the possibility of some rain,” AccuWeather said.

Central New York is under a winter storm warning until 4 p.m. Friday as snow totals were forecasted to accumulate dependent on elevation, according to the National Weather Service. In valleys, 1-4 inches of snow could fall, but areas above 1,500 feet in elevation could be hit with up to a foot of snow, the weather service said. The highest elevations could have snowfall of up to 16 inches.
