See how Dolly Parton, Celine Dion and more celebs celebrated the holidays

Dolly Parton attends Dolly Parton's Threads: My Songs In Symphony World Premiere at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on March 20, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Celebs took time to be with family, open presents, and reflect on 2025, and many took to Instagram to share those special moments or send greetings to fans. (Yes, there were plenty of matching pajamas.)

Dolly Parton, 80, didn’t reference her health challenges, but had a very simple holiday message for her fans. Dressed in festive red, she shared a video to say “very merry Christmas” and to remind people to “always take care of one another.” Referencing one of her greatest hits, she ended by saying “You know that I will always love you.”

Here’s what some other celebrities shared.

Celine Dion and William Shatner served up some laughs

Some celebs seemed to know the world need a bit more joy this holiday season, and delivered that with costumes that were befitting Heidi Klum’s Halloween party.

Celine Dion, 57, went all out for her Christmas greeting, which was a much more humorous approach than her Thanksgiving well wishes. Dressed as the Grinch, she ticks through her holiday to-do list, which includes jazzercise, solving world hunger and scrolling TikTok videos endlessly. “I could simply wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year,” she says to the camera, then shouts, “Boring!” She then proceeds to sing, “All by myself, I want to be, all by myself,” a reference to one of her biggest hits. “Silent night? Not on my watch…” the award winning singer captioned the post, signing it, “Celine, xx.”

William Shatner posted on Dec. 24 a hilarious, presumably AI-manipulated image that shows him with lots of blush and wearing a silver sequined jumpsuit while holding candy cane light saber. “Just to show you I’m up on all the latest fads; I wanted to participate in this social media happenstance that’s going around,” he said, referencing “Life Day” in the photo. Life Day stems from Star Wars lore as a Wookie holiday celebrating family, joy and harmony that took off in when Disney Parks started celebrating it and dropping new merch, typically around Nov. 17 each year. “This is how it’s done…right???”

The Star Trek legend, 94, finished his post with an extra zinger, “BTW could someone help zip me up? How do you people ever get dressed?” and signed it “HAPPY GET A LIFE DAY SW FANS! XO!! Bill”

Stephen Colbert’s @colbertlateshow account posted a video of Liam Neeson in a mock screen test as Santa. Using his gruffest, action thriller voice, Neeson, 73, recites famous Christmas lines, including “I see you, when you’re sleeping,” and “I know when you’re awake.” Even when instructed to be “more jolly” the A-lister can’t make Santa seem anything less than intimidating. “let me tell you something about that reindeer that ran over grandma. I will look for him. I will find him.”

Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian celebrated with family

Jennifer Lopez, 56, marked Christmas Eve with a gallery of photos, starting with a selfie in striped pajamas and a velvet ribbon in her hair in front of a two-story Christmas tree. She also included a photo with her family, including sister Lynda Lopez, 54, and her child Emme, 17, all in matching red and white pjs.

On Dec. 23, Kim Kardashian posted a video of her and her kids North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm in matching holiday pajamas, dancing to Fran Sinatra’s “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” “Family traditions,” the “All’s Fair” star, 45, captioned the post. She also shared a post, wearing a North Face Skims jacket, while skiing, and in another photo, wearing a fur coat in front of a Christmas tree.

And celebs like Madonna were a little bit naughty

Madonna really leaned into the naughty or nice theme with her Dec. 23 post, which show boyfriend Akeem Morris, 29, and twin daughters Stella and Estere, 13, with the music “Santa Baby.” The carousel of 20 images included pics of the 67-year-old icon in a white corset and thigh highs, and another photo of her in a velvet dress with a black bra peeking out and a black blindfold. Other photos included a shirtless Morris in pants and boots from a Santa costume. “Santa wants to know…… have you been naught or nice?” she caption. “Merry Christmas everyone!”
