A 20-year-old Sedgwick County Jail detention deputy was arrested Thursday for a couple domestic violence-related incidents that happened in October.
The detention deputy, who remained jailed Friday afternoon, was arrested at his work by Wichita police on suspicion of aggravated domestic battery and misdemeanor domestic battery, according to arrest records and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
He has been with the Sheriff’s Office since June 2023. He’s been suspended with pay from work, pending the outcomes of a criminal case and internal investigation.
The arrest stems from two cases in October that happened in the 500 block of West Central, where he lives, records show.
The first one was reported at 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 7 after the victim reported the suspect was “strangling her,” according to a police report.
The other was reported at 1 a.m. on Oct. 28 after the victim reported the suspect “battering her,” causing “visible injuries,” another police report says.
