Local veterans to serve as models and raise funds to Veterans Council of Chatham County

Five local boutiques are teaming up for a fashion show with a mission that extends beyond the runway.The inaugural Savannah Boutique Fashion Show is set for May 7 at The Mackey House, bringing together style and service by raising funds for the Veterans Council of Chatham County. Many of the show’s models will be veterans themselves.“It was an easy yes,” said Mo Dixon-Strickland, owner of Sea Oar Be Seen on Wilmington Island. “You have something for my country or our values—anything—the answer is yes, because it’s so important.”The participating businesses include Sea Oar Be Seen, Delaney Rose, Pima, Morgan Rae, and Goldy Links. They’re contributing outfits to be featured in the event, with proceeds supporting local veteran-focused nonprofits, including The Dive, which aids unhoused veterans.Retired Marine Lt. Col. Harry Gardner, of the Veterans Council, emphasized the event’s deeper significance.“Let’s highlight the community we are a part of as veterans,” Gardner said. “We defended it.
