TEXAS — The holiday all about giving thanks is reportedly best celebrated in San Antonio, Texas.

WalletHub ranked the best cities to trot to for Thanksgiving, and San Antonio took the cake (or pumkin pie) for No. 1. Dallas also ranked in the top 10 at No. 4.

To determine which cities are deemed the best for breaking bread this year, the study measured the following criteria:

  • Celebrations and traditions (pumpkin patches per capita, holiday decor shops)
  • Affordability (price of Thanksgiving dinner, dining out, hotel costs)
  • Safety and accessibility (crime rate, road safety, flight delays, traffic)
  • Giving thanks (volunteer opportunities, charity organizations per capita)
  • Weather forecast on Thanksgiving day

San Antonio is a perfect destination for those who want to take a break from hosting to dine out on Thanksgiving, the study says, since the city is home to a high number of restaurants rated 4.5 stars or more.

If hosting is your thing, the study cites the cost of a Thanksgiving feast being the third-cheapest in the U.S.

Residents are apparently all-in on the holiday, too, with a high number of Google searches with Thanksgiving-related search terms compared to the rest of the country. The city also boasts numerous holiday decoration shops.

If you’re looking to get the perfect family postcard or just enjoy a fall day in Texas, San Antonio is home to an abundance of pumpkin patches — another element that pushed it higher on the list.

To top it off, Thanksgiving weather in the Alamo City is set to be enjoyable, with a 1% chance of precipitation in the forecast.

Other Texas cities ranked highly on the list include Irving at No. 6, Plano at No. 7, Corpus Christi at No. 11, Houston at No. 12 and Austin at No. 16.
