Samsung’s One UI 7 update appears to have adversely affected the Galaxy S23 camera, if recent reports are to be believed.
Samsung took its sweet time bringing One UI 7 to its older phones. Now that it’s here, not everyone’s happy with the results, with reports of the update making battery life worse.
It might just be making the camera experience worse for some users, too. As noted by TechIssuesToday, Samsung Galaxy S23 series users (including the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S23 FE) are taking to various forums to claim that their phones are taking inferior photographs post-update.
The One UI 7 Samsung Galaxy S23 problem
For some Galaxy S23 users, after updating to One UI 7, images taken with Samsung’s 2023 flagship phone are coming out blurry and washed out, with none of the manufacturer’s signature colour pop.
These underwhelming shots seem to be produced in a variety of conditions too, from everyday shots to low-light snaps. Distance doesn’t seem to matter either, with softness reported in both distant background scenery and close-up subjects.

Samsung’s Camera app also appears to have degraded for some users, with several reports of laggy behaviour when switching in between modes and different cameras, as well as a delay of up to three seconds when pressing the shutter button.
It doesn’t seem as if the usual corrective measures are having any effect, whether that’s clearing the camera cache, resetting settings, or toggling various functions on and off.
There’s been no direct comment from Samsung on these alleged Galaxy S23 camera issues as yet, though community moderators are encouraging affected users to submit proper error reports and to wait for a potential patch in the next update.
We’ll update this story if we hear anything more.
