Sainsbury's, Tesco, Lidl & more UK supermarket recalls

Recalls have been issued on products for a variety of reasons, including some food items that may contain pieces of glass, and some which come with the threat of salmonella contamination.

We have rounded up the ongoing product recalls you should be aware of.

If you have bought any of the items mentioned below, you need to be aware of these possible health risks.

Sainsbury’s Recall

Sainsbury’s shoppers have been given a “do not eat” warning after a product sold at the supermarket was found to be a “possible health risk”.

The supermarket has recalled its JS Free From Breaded Mini Fillets because they contain milk not mentioned on the label.

As a result, the fillets are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The affected products have use by dates of November 15, 16, 17 and 20.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned: “Sainsbury’s is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

“For further information, visit Sainsbury’s website at Sainsburys.co.uk/help or Sainsbury’s careline on 0800 028 8303.”

A Sainsbury’s spokesman added: “If you have the product, please return it to your local Sainsbury’s store for a full refund. You do not need a receipt.

“No other JS Free From products have been affected and we would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”

Poundland Recall

Poundland shoppers have been issued a “do not eat” warning after the retailer recalled a food item due to the possible presence of glass.

Poundland & Dealz has recalled The Tasty Snack Co. Roasted and Salted Cashews because the product may contain glass, making it unsafe to eat.

A Poundland spokesman said: “We are asking any consumers who purchased this product to return it to store for a full refund, no receipt is required.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“However, the safety and confidence of our consumers and the quality of our products is at the heart of everything we do.”

The affected cashews have a batch code of 56T 25255 and a best before date of July 19, 2026.

A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) added: “Poundland & Dealz is recalling the above product.

“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it.

“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.

“If you have bought the above product do not consume it. Instead, return it to a Poundland store for a full refund (no proof of purchase required).

“For further information, please contact Poundland & Dealz on customer.relations@poundland.co.uk or 0333 234 1877.”

Lidl Recall

Lidl shoppers have been issued a “do not eat” warning after the supermarket revealed one of its products may contain glass.

The Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews sold by Lidl has been recalled because it may contain glass, making it unsafe to eat.

A Lidl spokesman said: “Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to the potential presence of glass foreign bodies which may present a choking hazard.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.”

The affected cashews come in packs of 125g and have a best before date of June 28, 2026.

A Food Standards Agency (FSA) spokesman said: “Lidl GB is recalling the above product.

“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.

“If you have bought the above product do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

M&S recall

Marks & Spencer is recalling its popular M&S Milk Chocolate Honeycomb because it may contain peanuts which are not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

It’s specifically the M&S Milk Chocolate Honeycomb, pack size 120g, lot number 5242, best before 12 May 2026. No other products are affected.

Marks & Spencer is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice in stores to alert its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

The Food Standard Agency (FSA) says: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts, do not eat it. Instead return it to your nearest store for a full refund. For more information, please contact Marks & Spencer on 03330 148555.”

Dog Food recall

Dog owners have been warned to check the dog food they are giving to their four-legged friends following a salmonella contamination.

Rhondda Raw Ltd are recalling their Beef 80/10/10 raw frozen dog food because Salmonella has been found in the product.

The affected dog food has a best before date of August 4, 2026, and batch codes of 040825/BM and 050825/BM.

A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency warned: “Rhondda Raw Ltd is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

“This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause illness in humans and animals.

“The product could therefore carry a potential risk, because of the presence of Salmonella, either through direct handling of the pet food, or indirectly, for example from pet feeding bowls, utensils or contact with the faeces of animals.

“If you have bought the above product do not use it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

“When handling and serving raw pet food it is always advised to clean utensils and feeding bowls thoroughly after use.

“Consumers should wash hands thoroughly after handling raw pet food, bowls, utensils or after contact with the faeces of animals.

“Raw pet food should be stored separately from any food (especially ready to eat foods).

“Care should be taken when defrosting to avoid cross contamination of foods and surfaces.”

A spokesman for Rhondda Raw Ltd added: “Do not use this product, instead return this product to your retailer for a full refund.

“If you have handled this product, wash your hands thoroughly and clean all utensils, surfaces and bowls.”

Tesco allergy recall

Tesco shoppers have been issued a warning following a product recall from the supermarket giant.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has told customers not to eat the product and urged them to return it to Tesco for a refund.

Tesco is recalling its Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs because they contain wheat which is not mentioned on the label.

As a result, the breadcrumbs are a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or glute, or with coeliac disease.

A spokesman for the FSA said: “Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or coeliac disease do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.

“No receipt is required. For more information contact Tesco Customer Services at tesco.com/help/contact.”

The recall affects all batch codes and best before of the breadcrumbs.

A Tesco spokesman added: “We are recalling all date and batch codes of Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs 170g, due to the presence of undeclared wheat (gluten) in the product.

“This means there is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy/intolerance to wheat (gluten).

“No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Iceland safety recall

Iceland has issued a “do not eat” warning to its customers over a product that may contain pieces of plastic.

The supermarket is recalling its Iceland Vegetable Lasagne because of the risk of plastic in the dish, making it unsafe to eat.

The affected products have best before dates of July 23, 2026, and July 30, 2026.

A spokesman for the FSA also told anyone who has purchased the dish not to eat it.

They said: “Iceland Foods Ltd is recalling the above product. The company has issued a recall notice to its customers.

“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, please call 0800 328 0800.”

An Iceland spokesman added: “We are taking the precautionary measure of recalling the dates codes of the above product because it may contain hard pieces of plastic making it unsafe to eat.

“Only the best before date codes listed in this notice are affected.

“If you have purchased any of the above product, DO NOT eat it.”

What is a product recall?

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).

The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.

In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued.

This provides local authorities with details of specific actions to be taken on behalf of consumers.
