The movie “Jaws” is celebrating its 50th anniversary just in time for the start of summer. The now-iconic summer blockbuster and its mechanical shark didn’t exactly have a fashion connection when it was first released — until Raf Simons, then creative director for Calvin Klein 205W39NYC, used the film as inspiration for his spring 2019 collection. Models walk down a blood-red colored carpeted runway in shark bitten skirts, blood stain tie-dyed tank tops, scuba suits, vintage “Jaws” inspired t-shirts and a shark dress featuring a shark’s eye. Here is a look back at the collection as summer fashion season kicks-off.
