Reform UK has won a district council by-election in Worcestershire following the resignation of a Conservative councillor.

Matthew Winfield won the by-election for the Bretforton and Offenham seat on Thursday, on a turnout of 36.3%.

The former mayor of Pershore polled 357 votes to become Reform’s sole voice on Wychavon District Council. His nearest rival Marin Cretu, of the Green Party, came second with 213 votes.

The result, which saw Winfield capture 43% of the votes, comes after councillor Aaron Powell resigned but still leaves the Conservatives with a large majority.
