Reform UK form local branch - and name candidate for up-coming by-election

REFORM UK has announced the formation of a new branch in Warrington – and named their candidate for an up-coming borough council by-election.

Carl Knapper, a local resident for more than 30 years, will stand for the party in the Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall by-election on May 1st.
The by-election has been caused by the resignation of Labour’s Cllr Janet Henshaw, a former deputy leader of the council, who is standing down to prioritise her health and wellbeing and that of her family.
Mr Knapper, who has a background in engineering, said: “I believe in a thriving Warrington. A safer and stronger Warrington and a prosperous community for us all. Labour and Conservatives have both let us down. I know that many people are currently disillusioned with politics and I know that Reform UK will bring fresh thinking, honesty and lots of common sense to the table”.

He promises to be a strong advocate for safer streets and appropriate housing for all. He aims to be an approachable and accessible councillor for constituents of all ages. His motto is ‘Your problems are my problems’ and not just at election time!
Reform UK says it has seen an impressive surge both in the national polls and also in membership since the last General Election. The local chair of the Warrington branch of Reform Uk is Jan Balfe, who said: “The growth in membership is quite amazing. We have 1655 members and registered supporters in Warrington alone and that figure is rising.
“We aim to have candidates in every ward. People are crying out for hope and we believe we can provide not only hope, but common sense both locally and nationally.”
