Biden pardon of son: Hypocrisy or ?

Re: “Biden pardons his son Hunter,” Dec. 2 news story

So, President Joe Biden pardons his son Hunter Biden because Hunter was singled out because the charges (to which Hunter pleaded guilty) were “politically motivated.”  How about all the politically motivated charges against former President Donald Trump?

It’s just more hypocritical shenanigans by a contemptible Democratic president.

Re: “Dems upset over pardon,” Dec. 3 news story

The outrage over President Biden granting a pardon to his son is simply piling on. “How dare he pardon his son? The scandal, the shame.” First and foremost, it’s his son and, yes, he said he wouldn’t pardon him. Well, imagine being the grandfather having to explain to Hunter’s four children that: “I could have saved your father from prison, but sometimes you have to sacrifice to appease the howling masses.”

Joe Biden has spent more than half his life serving his country. His reward? The party he has faithfully served has gone out of its way to embarrass, dishonor, and destroy his legacy.

Now that’s a scandal and a shame.

And let’s not forget that come Jan. 20, 2025, Donald Trump will likely begin pardoning the more than one thousand traitors convicted for the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the United States Capitol.

It is a bit disheartening to read about all of the “outrage” by both parties regarding the pardon of Hunter Biden. Please, you foul hypocrites. Donald Trump was convicted by a jury of 34 felony counts, but his sentencing was delayed long enough to make it impossible to punish him for the crime. His obstruction charges have been shut down and he will never face justice for the Jan. 6 insurrection he orchestrated.

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet is quoted as saying that this pardon “further erodes Americans’ faith that the justice system is fair and equal for all.” What rock does Bennet live under? There has been 100 years of Jim Crow laws in the South and scores of unjust rulings in the courts, two-tier “justice” for the wealthy and the poor, and mass incarceration of black Americans. Look at the misguided OJ Simpson trial and the death of Elijah McClain at the hands of police. The list is endless.

The idea that the American justice system “is fair and equal for all” is, frankly, laughable.

Donald Trump is returning to the White House with a revenge mission. Shielding a loved one from his wrath is the only thing a thoughtful human being would do. God help anyone on his enemy list who is not taking cover.

So the Democrats are upset because Joe Biden preemptively issued a blanket pardon for his son Hunter, which they believe undermines the justice system in America. I say kudos to President Biden for putting his family first, given President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to weaponize the Justice Department for political revenge.

What Hunter Biden did was illegal; however, an equitable deal was made with the prosecutor to settle the case until Trump’s cronies in Congress sought to use the Biden case for political revenge.

Given Trump’s history with politically motivated pardons, I find this pardon easy to swallow. At least Hunter Biden won’t use his pardon to the detriment of our country. I cannot say the same for Trump pardons given to Steve Bannon, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Michael Flynn.
