COLUMBUS, Ohio — The streets around Easton Town Center’s Tesla dealership were flooded with protestors as hundreds spoke out against Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency‘s sweeping federal job cuts.
“We want him out of the government and out of our lives. The world’s richest man in the world, what is he doing?” said Rick Neal, one of the organizers.
According to DOGE’s website, the department claims recent job cuts have resulted in $130 billion in taxpayer savings.
A group of counterprotesters displayed their support for Musk and the current administration.
“We put Donald Trump, Elon Musk and the Trump administration and his agenda into office and now it’s time to stand behind him and say, ‘We are here for you, we support you and we’re willing to come out and show it,” said a demonstrator.
As police monitored the scene to ensure public safety, demonstrators emphasized the importance of peaceful protest.
“We want our voices heard, but we are not here to create problems. We’re not here for violence. We’re not here for any of that,” said a demonstrator.
As Tesla protests continue around the nation, President Donald Trump has made it known that violent attacks are unacceptable.
The FBI recently launched a task force to crack down on violent Tesla attacks.
Organizers on both sides said they will continue showing up to the protests every Saturday at Easton.
